We conserve and improve Doctors Park for the enjoyment of all area residents.
Doctors Park is located on the border of Fox Point and Bayside on the shoreline of Lake Michigan. Part of the Milwaukee County Parks system, it is comprised of approximately 49 acres situated on the bluff, and features a number of ways to descend from the parking lot, playground and sports fields above to a secluded beach along Lake Michigan. Find out how you can help. View this video to learn why we are active in preserving the park’s native plants.
Did you know that foraging for plants is NOT allowed in Milwaukee County Parks?
"At the end of the day, Parks natural areas provide the last sanctuaries for plants, wildlife, fungi, etc. in a heavily urbanized county. Realistically, all of our native specie populations have been reduced by over 90% in the last 150-years as the county has been urbanized. It would not be good conservation practice to let people exploit what little is left. Especially because there are a large number of state properties in SE WI where foraging is allowed, and those sites are within easy driving distance for Milwaukee County residents."

There were two major federal employment projects of the 1930s: the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Works Progress Administration. Smith said nearly every one of the county's 157 parks over 15,300 acres were somehow touched by the WPA. At Doctors Park, you can see the result in the jetties on the beach, the Beach House, many trails and the Central Staircase along the bluff. Listen to a recent report on WUWM.
